FAQ's

What infusions are you offering at Heal?

Primarily we offer Iron Infusions due to the high demand for this. Our team is also trained in administering zoledronic acid (Aclasta) which is used to treat osteoporosis.

What is an Iron infusion?

Iron infusions are used to treat iron deficiency which can lead to anaemia (low blood count) and cause symptoms such as lethargy, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, difficulty concentrating etc. Normally an iron infusion is indicated where oral (tablet) iron replacement has been tried without success.

Low iron (ferritin) levels need to be demonstrated on a blood test and reviewed by a doctor to calculate your total body iron storage and the correct dose for the infusion. Often a top up dose may be required a week following the initial infusion.

What happens if I don’t bring the Ferinject (iron) medication?

If you can’t get to the chemist, we can supply the iron medication to you. The cost is an additional $49.00 per treatment.

How long does it take?

The procedure will take around 60 minutes, allowing time for checking paperwork and calculating dose (15 minutes), the infusion itself (15 minutes) and a period observation (30 minutes).

How many treatments will I need?

You will start to see improvements after your first treatment. The need for a second treatment is dependent on your blood levels and weight. If you require further treatments, we will discuss these with you and schedule them on your behalf. Further treatments cost $198.00.
